Costa Rica Mission, 2005

July 19, El Coco in Guanacaste

We are leaving a day early for Nicaragua so we can enjoy a relaxing day in El Coco in the northwest of Costa Rica.  It is part of the fabled Nicoya Peninsula and the province of Guanacaste.  So we left early this morning with Victor, our bus driver, for a long ride up north toward Nicaragua, with an overnight stop at El Coco.

We will then leave for Nicaragua tomorrow, Wednesday,  by hooking up with our Tico friends from Ciudad de Dios who we will meet in Liberia, and then continue together to Nicaragua and be there until we return on Friday.

Our trip will begin in San Jose and end a little bit beyond Managua, the capital of Nicaragua.

We stayed at a lovely resort hotel named Casa Blanca, between El Coco and Ocotal. This is the view overlooking the ocean...

Tobi and Whitney work on a sand castle on the beach...

There were parrots in the trees...

And Mali, a youngster, was given a privilege that few have enjoyed (just ask!): sharing Mr. Pahl's orange juice!

Lynn and Lisa make ice cream cones in one of the rooms which was equipped with a kitchen and lunch bar...

Sunset after a fun afternoon of snorkeling...
